The Lion King
The Lion Kingis a coming of age story about a young lion named Simba who aspires to be as great a king as his father. His evil uncle, however, has other plans. The story is Simba's journey to navigate tragedy and to learn to take personal responsibility for his path in life. The plot of the Lion king has been supposed to parallel Shakespeare's famous play Hamlet. It recieved critical aclaim for its music, animation, and story. It was the highest grossing film produced in 1994 and the second highest grossing at the time of release. It was later selected for preservation for being culturally and historically significant. The Lion King was a staple of my childhood and a pillar of what is now called the Disney Renaissance era.
